Having a complete understanding of the financial system we’ve become accustomed to since birth is not only advantageous, but it’s an absolute must.  The gap between really understanding the impact and full gravity of inflation and living by a feeling or a suspicion is too wide to ignore. Nic Carter is an entrepreneur, investor, columnist and advisor in the Bitcoin crypto space. He’s joining Tom today to break down some principle ideas and thoughts to help you at least research what you should be doing with your money, your government issued and government backed money. What’s happening with crypto and NFTs isn’t something you can ignore or sleep through. Bitcoin has been going strong for more than a decade. You have a moral obligation to yourself and to your family to at least understand how inflation works, why increasing assets is like theft of your dollar’s value and how you can protect yourself and be part of the wealth redistribution in a way that benefits you more than harms you.

QUOTES:

“Devaluing the monetary medium that we store our work and labor in is always redistributive. So it's effectively a way to reapportion societal resources from some group to another group.” [9:59]

“there's a wealth effect whereby people feel richer, and then they spend more like if the value of your 401k goes a lot, goes up a lot, you're probably willing to buy that nice new car, if the value of your house goes up a lot” [16:23]

“There's nothing that guarantees that public equity investors in the US are going to earn 7% every year for the rest of all time.” [31:38]

“As an entrepreneur in the crypto space, and someone who allocates capital, my best hope is to sort of create the tools and the systems that regular folks can use to potentially escape a ruinous Fiat system.” [40:15]

“The government cultivates an environment in which the dollar has value. They have certain tools to do that, one is tax policy...” [42:09]

“The first thing is just not not accepting uncritically the narratives coming out of sort of our monetary elites in this country.” [49:06]

If you've been following the cryptocurrency and NFT conversation with us recently, you’ll appreciate this incredible conversation with Robert Breedlove, a freedom maximalist and bitcoin-focused entrepreneur. If you haven’t been following along, jump in now. This episode is less NFT and crypto wallet focused and more educational in that Robert breaks down inflation like very few can. Understanding something at its foundational level allows you to really think from first principles, which empowers you to make better decisions. Cryptocurrency is built on technology and Bitcoin has been performing like no other asset in history, but why and how is this possible? You may need to watch this a few times, and may be even better with pen and paper to take notes. This is a crash course and deep dive on money, inflation, what property is, and why assets matter.

Robert shares 5 properties of money:

1. Divisibility
2. Durability
3. Recognizability
4. Portability
5. Scarcity

QUOTES:

“Money is also a psycho technology. It's like literacy or numeracy. It's a software implementation we put into our brain, we use it to communicate, negotiate [and] plan.” [6:42]

“We typically think property is the house, the car, the stock, whatever. That's not what property is, properties and relationships. It's an exclusively acknowledged relationship between the owner and the asset”

“It contradicts the premise of self ownership, when we give power away to a single institution” [10:26]

“I like to say central banking, and the fiat currency complex is as clear as mud and twice as dirty.” [16:48]

“When we look at money, the five properties that market actors voluntarily favor, you could also think of as the five services we seek from money…” [26:16]

“When money is losing its value over time. We're all incentivized to be more short term thinking. This is a de-civilizing force.” [39:07]

“There is no difference between counterfeiting and inflating the amount of dollars in the system.” [40:13]

“Inflation is legalized counterfeiting. Counterfeiting is criminalized inflation.” [43:33]

“We have tried to rationalize and formulate different ways of creating socio economic structures that favored the few that could understand it and create that privilege for themselves at the expense of others.” [56:35]

“Bitcoin is an innovation as significant as the Gutenberg printing press actually, and I think the implications of its emergence will be similarly disruptive to institutions in the world.” [1:10:07]

“When the institution tries to clamp down on the disruptive technology, the subversive technology, it actually drives it to its highest and most useful form of some subversion” [1:12:24]

“Another definition of money. It's an insurance policy on uncertainty. The only reason people are holding money is for its option value.” [1:35:23]

“To walk across the room, implies that you value being on the other side of the room more than you value sitting where you currently are. So we are constantly and unavoidably expressing our values through action.” [1:55:22]

Sleep is not only an essential function that allows us to recharge mentally and physically, it’s also deemed so important that going without sleep was banned by Guinness World Records. The record for going without sleep was officially given to Randy Gardner who managed to survive 11 days without sleep in 1964 while giving himself a form of dementia. Obviously this is not the path to take for increasing productivity and optimizing your quality of life, but many of us are short changing our sleep every night and have been doing so for years. Sleep is something that should be protected and guarded at all costs if you want to execute consistently at a high level and optimize for higher output and results. Here are Tom’s 10 tips to help you prioritize your sleep even if you’re burning the candle at both ends, there is no excuse and no way around prioritizing your sleep hygiene.

When you sit back allow yourself to really dream, often the dream you have is beautiful but it’s also big, a little scary, and intimidating. Big dreams and big goals feel nearly impossible. It’s hard to fathom how you’re supposed to get from where you are in this moment to this far away goal that’s hard to conceptualize. James “Iron Cowboy” Lawrence completed 50 consecutive Iron-Distance Triathlons covering 7,030 miles with 0.24% of those miles completed indoors due to inclement weather. He joins Tom and breaks down the backlash he got for doing less than 17 miles indoors, and reveals the real mental fortitude and personal challenges he faced that lead him to deciding on completing 100 consecutive Iron-Distance Triathlons this time, plus one.

James talks about what it really means to do hard things, and how the secret of achieving your goals is in the journey, the failures, and the lessons that prepare you for the actual goal. He’s opening up about what his post-recovery has become and the challenges he’s overcoming for that as well.

“Motion creates emotion, and you have to experience something and feel it in order to have an experience or knowledge with it.” [4:00]

“Mastering that continual conversation and beatdown that we have with ourselves is one of the most important pieces to that puzzle.” [9:42]

“Why people fail is because they rush straight to that big goal and they miss out on everything in between, which is the most important part.” [14:48]

“You need to meet yourself where you're at, on your journey. And over time, your perception perspective will change about what's possible for you.” [18:20]

“You wouldn't do something if you knew how damn hard it was going to be, and you wouldn't do something if you had all the answers, and you don't start as the expert.” [34:34]

“What you say you're going to do is the expectation, and if you deviate from that, it gives them permission to then attack you.” [43:23]

“We don't know what tomorrow is gonna bring, and if you quit now you're never going to find out and that would be the most tragic thing you do on your journey…” [49:46]

When you think of someone being courageous, it’s easy to think of police, fire fighters, and military. Maybe the person that risked their life to help a total stranger in a time of need comes to mind as being courageous. But courage manifests in many ways than not just the physical acts that we default to. Ryan Holiday joins Tom to discuss his new book, Courage Is Calling. He explains how courage is ongoing. It’s about the moments and opportunities that are presented where you choose to act in courage, or you show up reckless without regard, or you choose the cowardly thing in that moment. Ryan unpacks having courage, acting in courage, and where it falls in the spectrum between being reckless and being a coward. Even the term coward seems harsh when you realize you may be guilty of acting cowardly at different points in your life. You’ve chosen to “save face” and look after your personal safety and benefit at some point, and it’s okay, we all have. Ryan further explains through his personal experiences that doing the courageous thing is not always self-evident, and that these moments will present themselves. This is a great jumping off point to exercise your courage muscle, do the heroic things and start living to a higher standard today.

QUOTES:

“That's kind of the idea of virtues, is to create sort of a structure that you can live in, that guides you so you're not again winging it on these critical decisions.” [7:03]

“There is no deed in this life so impossible that you cannot do it, your whole life should be lived as a heroic deed.” Leo Tolstoy read by Tom [12:21]

“History is not just a parade of shitty people and crimes and awfulness and hypocrites, that we are making progress and things are getting better and it's getting better because people were courageously committed to ideas and ideals, and risked themselves and their reputations to try to make those things more real.” [22:45]

“You don't get to stick your head in the sand and deny that facts are facts, but you have to decide what facts are you going to take and integrate into your understanding of the world, and what your imperative as an individual is.” [31:28]

“What do you do with the little moments that life offers you? Do you make the brave choice Or the cowardly choice?” [34:32]

“If the fight doesn't need to happen, it's not courageous to start it [....] deciding what battles need to be fought, what risks need to be taken, how risk can be taken off the table if it's not necessary. This is an important part of courage. It's not just, I don't feel fear.” [44:49]

“The thing you're hesitating on doing, the considerations, are usually very helpful in reminding you of what actually matters.” [51:33]

“Courage isn't this thing where you're either courageous or you're not. It's more a thing you do, day to day.” [1:14:54]

“If you think about courage as like, very rarely the easy way, and almost always the harder way, you can build that as a muscle” [1:17:21]

“The decision to quit, the decision to give up, the decision to concede, that's ultimately a power that you always have.” [1:20:19]

“Everyone tells you, it's a bad idea, until you definitively prove it was a good idea. And then the curse is that it looks like it was obvious all along.” [1:25:30]

The truth about life, success, and failure is everything depends on you. The problem is that you, and nearly every other person around, defaults to being at the mercy of the people, the environments, and unfortunate situations that mark the course of life. Mel Robbins is the personification of motivation on steroids packed with a high potency of raw truth. You could say she’s joining Tom to discuss her newest book, The High 5 Habit, but it’s more fitting to say she’s back to give you the kick in the ass you’ve been waiting for. Mel is not only talking about why high fiving yourself is powerful, she’s reminding you that you have a responsibility to heal yourself and do the work. While you’re chasing your dreams, understand that what the world sees as failure may just be a massive success in the timeline of your life, as has been the case for Mel Robbins.

QUOTES:

“I hope that when somebody listens to our conversation and watches this that they have a massive a-ha moment, but it’s not going to mean fucking shit if you don’t take action and do something about it.” [3:01]

“You are going to find yourself not at 25, but 45 or 65, and you're going to be so filled with regret that you never fucking put a bet on yourself.” [6:29]

“When you start to have a moment with yourself, the crazy part is you start to build a partnership with yourself.” [15:01]

“Beating yourself up will not make you do the work to get healthy, and tearing yourself down over the shit that you've done or the terrible relationships that you're in it's not going to empower you to change the patterns that are keeping you stuck.” [24:50]

“The thing about jealousy is, it's just your inspiration that's blocked. Jealousy is sort of the insecurity that you have that blocks this inspiration” [35:55]

“Most people aren't obsessed with their goals, because they don't believe they're worthy of them.” [40:36]

“If you don't, at some point, be defiant, against what the world or your caregivers or your past experience has pounded into your brain incorrectly, unfairly, you will forever be stuck with that story.” [41:16]

“You can have nothing, and you can still have your own back. You can have tremendous problems and very real obstacles that you're facing, and you can have a mindset that says, through my efforts, my attitude, I can have an impact on the situation that I'm in.” [45:09]

Dopamine is not a new topic. People have been obsessing and hearing about dopamine and its role in human behavior for years. You may think of it as the feel-good happy hormone, or you may associate it with addiction, love, lust and sex. As our lives convert over to a totally digital experience that is with us everywhere we are in the form of a cell phone, dopamine detox has even started gaining in popularity. Dr. Andrew Huberman from the Huberman Lab is back again to unpack some of the more surprising discoveries and uses of dopamine. He cleverly relates dopamine to being a biological currency that has a role to play in human desire for more. Dopamine is the catalyst pushing humanity forward exploring things like cryptocurrency and pushing our limitations and what is possible, but is all of that for the sake of pleasure and feeling good? Dr. Huberman breaks down the eternal balance of pain and pleasure, arousal and relaxation and gives you the insight you need to start regulating your body’s dopamine release. If you thought dopamine was all about feeling good, Dr. Huberman is about to reveal why it’s more about what motivates you in the pursuit of something greater.

QUOTES:

“When I say dopamine is the universal currency of everything, what I mean is, it's driving the motivation to develop new currencies.” [3:08]

“Celebrating the win more than the pursuit, it actually sets you up for failure in the future.” [16:00]

“If you can start to register that craving, and that friction and that desire, that almost kind of low level of agitation, sometimes high level of agitation [...] that's dopamine...” [17:54]

“Your capacity to tap into dopamine as a motivator, not just seeking dopamine rewards, that is infinite.” [19:34]

“It's the craving that makes me feel alive. So it's the state of wanting that is in and of itself, the pleasurable act.” [22:37]

“It doesn't matter if it's Bitcoin or aetherium, it doesn't matter if it's putting rockets on other planets, it doesn't matter if it's building the first automobile, it's the same currency.” [25:27]

“Dopamine itself is not the reward. It's the build up to the reward, and the reward has more of a kind of opioid bliss like property,” [29:51]

“The more pain you experience, the more dopamine you can achieve. If you get back on the avenue of pursuit.” [30:58]

“I would say addiction is a progressive narrowing of the things that bring you pleasure, and I don't like to comment too much on enlightenment, [...] but a good life is a progressive expansion of the things that bring you pleasure, and even better is a good life is a progressive expansion of the things that bring you pleasure and includes pleasure through motivation and hard work. “ [32:55]

“If you think about most of the growth in life comes from these rigidly externally imposed schedules and we hate them. But they are where we learn restraint” [52:42]

Whether you believe that humans and other species have evolved or you believe in a creator of living things, this episode is going to excite you or challenge you to think outside the box. Both scenarios are worthwhile, as Tom is joined by the world renowned evolutionary biologist, Richard Dawkins. Trying to fully grasp how the human mind works and what role evolution plays with our emotions, thought processes and sexual selection can be overwhelming. Tom highlights the inspiring works from Richard and discusses some complex ideas from his latest book, Books Do Furnish A Life. This is a deep dive into what evolution is, and raises the question of whether or not science, technology, and the human search for meaning and exploration has surpassed our basic evolutionary need for survival. Where does that leave humanity and what options are potential solutions worth exploring?

QUOTES:

“What I tried to do in my writing career is to emphasize the rational, thoughtful side of the brain, and to not deny the existence of the emotional, but to try to foster the control of the emotions by reason.” [6:48]

“What the human mind achieves today, in the form of science in particular, technology, is utterly bewildering when you think about it in an evolutionary context. It is so far beyond what we're ever naturally selected to do.”

“The origin of life on this planet is not a highly implausible event, it’s not a very rare event...” [1:09:49]

“The idea that every particle in the universe has a minute mote of consciousness seems to me to be complete rubbish.” [1:39:17]

“It's got to be a manifestation of great complexity of interacting units. No, one of which is conscious in itself, but when you put them together, consciousness emerges from the interactions among them.” [1:40:47]

“Cultural evolution is a real phenomenon, it really looks like evolution, it really has the same progressive qualities as evolution does.” [1:42:39]

“I introduced the idea of the meme as a virus of the mind. Something that goes viral is this successful meme.” [1:45:56]

Some people are more motivated by bad news while others are paralyzed in fear. Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying are two Evolutionary Biologists that give you the facts, discoveries and observations as they see it. Tom reads a direct quote from their latest book that says, “We are headed for collapse. Civilization is becoming incoherent around us.” Bret and Heather break down fundamental ideas behind what humans have learned from evolution for thousands of years, how corrupt the science community has become, and how to parent your children with the goal of mitigating risks while they are younger. These biologists are incredibly fascinating with novel ideas of what adaptation would look like for humans if we are careful and intentional.

QUOTES:

“Some things about what we are, are very difficult to change, some things are actually trivial, easily changed, and knowing which is which is a matter of sorting out where the information is housed.” Bret Weinstein [6:24]

“If you use your intuitive, honed instincts, in order to sort through novel problems, you will constantly up and yourself because those instincts aren't built with those problems in mind.” Bret Weinstein [13:23]

“Let's figure out how to use language that we can all agree on and understand and know, for the purposes of communication, as opposed to for the purposes of displaying group membership.” Heather Heying [23:31]

“Teaching undergraduates means exposing yourself and the thinking that you are presenting to naive minds who will throw curveballs at you, and some of those curveballs are going to be nuisances, and maybe they'll waste your time, but some of them are likely to reveal to you the frailty in your own thinking or in the thinking of the field.” Heather Heying [26:05]

“Being courageous about actually acknowledging what you don't know, often leads to the best conversations” Bret Weinstein [26:52]

“We need science where things are sufficiently difficult to observe or counterintuitive.” Bret Weinstein [29:53]

“wherever perception is the mediator of success, you have deception as an important evolutionary force” Bret Weinstein [32:19]

“back away from that which is novel, and untested, and in the direction of that, which is time tested. And it will result in a decrease in anxiety and increase in your control over your own life.” Bret Weinstein [50:49]

“Our brains are anti fragile, and our bones are anti fragile, and they become stronger with stressors.” Heather Heying [1:01:00]

“The very thing that made us so successful as a species is now setting us up for disaster.” Bret Weinstein [1:25]

Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, blockchain, and NFTs, when does it all stop and go away? Good news, chances are it never will. Bad news, chances are it’s not going away and if you’ve been avoiding this conversation, it needs to end today. Cryptocurrency is the fastest growing technology we’ve ever witnessed in human history. 10 years ago people doubted it, laughed at it, and blew it off. Today, countries like Nigeria, Vietnam and the Philippines are starting to adopt crypto. What is often rejected and feared is typically not understood. While billionaires and master investors once turned their backs to Bitcoin and the crypto world, they are slowly coming around and see the potential of what this currency and technology really is. Anthony Pompliano joins Tom to put you on notice and help you better understand exactly why low income and middle class people literally cannot afford to continue dismissing the potential for building wealth with cryptocurrency. Blockchain is happening and there is a major shift in wealth and purchasing power taking place. You owe it to yourself and to your future generations to at least do some more research, investigate and find out how you can better leverage the potential that a new digital world represents for you. The cost of entry is low, it’s decentralized, and for the first time you are not restricted by your income to take advantage.

1:47:04 | Why Pomp Choices Bitcoin

QUOTES:

“Poor people spend the middle class, save, and then the wealthy invest.” Tom Bilyeu [0:24]

“There’s really one key rule that everyone has to understand, which is, the dollars will be worth less than purchasing power terms over a long period of time.” [3:43]

“It's easy to mock and make fun of these young people. But these young people are interested in understanding how does the market works.” [8:03]

“It is impossible, literally impossible in America to get a financial security position by saving” [10:21]

“I can either suffer at the hands of this system, or I can flip around to the other side table, and I can benefit from the system. Every single rich person understands how to benefit from the system, hold assets, not a currency” [18:46]

“All money, at the end of the day, is a unit of time.” [31:28]

“Bitcoin, specifically, it has a financial component that is unavailable and other assets, it is systematically built to continue to protect your purchasing power” [33:02]

“The more that you can be a market observer, rather than a market predictor, you start to just understand, crazy stuff happens.” [1:07:03]

“The digital version of something is always bigger than the analog version” [1:10:19]

“Everything you think is cool is going to go to zero, and everything that you think is dumb is going to moon.” Tom Bilyeu [1:19:36]

Being open minded to new science, new research and medical breakthroughs is always a bonus. Too often it’s thought that health is for the rich or privileged that can afford high quality care, but when researchers and physicians begin to share how easy and accessible better health is for everyone, it’s time to really pay attention. Dr. William Li is an internal medicine doctor from the Harvard Medical School Faculty that studies angiogenesis, and is the author of the best-selling book, Eat To Beat Disease. Dr. Li is breaking down the 5 natural body defenses protecting you at all times, even right now, and exactly how powerful foods are that can prevent disease in your body. This interview feels like part of the missing chronicles of optimizing your health to a level you never knew existed, and there’s nothing complicated about it.

QUOTES:

“In most people's minds, including mine, not being sick is kind of the default definition of being healthy. But that is very problematic” [2:40]

“Health is not just the absence of disease, it is the result of our body's own hardwired defense systems, health defense systems that we’re born with.” [3:09]

“Organic coffee has more bioactives than the pesticide treated coffee because the insects, the natural things in the environment cause it to create more natural health defenses.” [39:36]

“Eating to beat disease is not just picking a particular disease and trying to figure out what the recipe is that the one size fits all. But it's really a journey that we have our whole lives.” [46:24]

Success has its price, and it will not be obtained without paying your fair share. Though success is something many people strive for, it has also been the byproduct of escape for many. Facing yourself in the mirror, the story you tell about yourself, and the heartache and trauma you’ve experienced can take the back seat in pursuit of greatness. Maybe enough success will make it all hurt less. Bobby Hall, AKA Logic, hasn’t had an easy start in life. Coming from an abusive family, exposed to too much at a young age has a role in how he arrived at throwing himself into his art and being one of the greatest rappers in hip hop. Bobby breaks down his journey, why he wrote his memoir and where he is now ending the career of Logic that he’s spent over a decade building.

Bobby’s Bio: As an author, Logic released the novel Supermarket (2019), which was accompanied by a soundtrack of the same name. The book became a New York Times Best Seller, but both works received generally mixed to negative critical reception. Logic is also a streamer, and signed exclusively with Twitch, becoming the first musician to do so.

QUOTES:

“The goals I had, as a young man and a musician and a creative person, were bullshit.” [16:54]

“There's always going to be something in our lives, there's always going to be something that isn't right. But we can't let it stop us from doing what we love.” [35:40]

“So many people have underlining things that they deal with personally, that nobody else would know [...] you got to live with it, adaptation. It's one of our greatest features. [39:46]

“When I look at other people, when they tell me their dreams, and their ambitions, and all this, I see this child inside of them that is pure and excited, and I root for that person.” [43:21]

“Being happy with the person I see in the mirror. has allowed me to not let that bitterness grow” [54:47]

“It took me being physically the strongest I'd ever been, the biggest I'd ever been in my life, to realize that all of that had nothing to do with strength, and that I had been strong my whole life. And I didn't need some outward physique to show me that or prove that to anybody else.” [56:32]

“Looking in the mirror now older, I've realized, everyone's full of shit. Nobody knows what they're talking about. I don't know shit. Why am I worried about this?” [58:22]

“Taking away the words of people and the thoughts that have been implanted in my head by people about myself is probably the most freeing thing I've been working on.” [59:28]

“I soaked up every piece of information that I could, so that I could be better at what I wanted to do, and if you are not prepared to wake up every day, to kind of like, fuck your life up, you know, turn down dates and hanging out with friends and all these things. Then don't do it.” [1:06:47]

“It was worth it up into that moment. And then I had to say goodbye” [1:11:08]

QUOTES:

“Crypto as it started building out as an ecosystem, [...] is now the fastest adoption of any technology in all recorded human history.” [7:42]

“If you know that something is being adopted at this speed, and it's a network of money at its core, and you combined infinitesimal fraction of it, so everybody can buy 10% of their net worth, then everybody who takes this opportunity will probably have the biggest opportunity in history to make money.” [10:11]

“I'm screaming from the rooftops saying, you might be cynical, you might think you don't understand it. You might think you can't afford to play in this. But you have to listen, because this is the opportunity.” [14:31]

“Suddenly, NFT's come and community tokens, and your mind is completely blown that this is not just money. It's the entire exchange, transfer and storage of value for the internet. Whole business models are about to change massively, because of what this technology unlocks.” [18:50]

“Generational poverty is a mindset knowledge problem far more than it's a money problem, because they managed to pass on a likelihood of being poor.” Tom Bilyeu [25:46]

“I want people to understand that this is a game and I don't mean that in any sort of derogatory way, but it has rules. And if you understand those rules, there's always an opportunity, especially in moments of disruption.” Tom Bilyeu [27:21]

“Don't over force the narrative. Just be broad, be open and always be learning because we don't know. This is all new, and it's happening at lightning speed.” [34:31]

“You have to know that we don't know the outcome, and anybody who tells you that they know what's going to happen is just a fraud.” [37:00]

“Be paranoid, excessively paranoid, but still confident in that you're right, and you also have to accept the risk of failure.” [39:31]

“This is true kind of distributed power within wealth creation, that people only dream of. This is the system not being against you, but working for you for once.” [1:15:14]

QUOTES:

“The habit is when you've done something so many times, that your body now knows how to do it better than your mind.” Joe Dispenza [7:09]

“Unleashing human potential, it is not about reaching the peak. It is a trajectory. Because what our life is, is a combination of a certain amount of time and energy.” Sadhguru [13:34]

“My thoughts, my emotions, my energy and my body or my instruments of function. They are not impediments in my life.” Sadhguru [16:01]

“You have to come to realize where you have been blind. Now often those moments, where we realize we’ve been blind are emotionally devastating.” Tom Bilyeu  [18:23]

“I’m going to let that rock hit me in the head because at my feet now is actually a nugget of gold, and I’m going to pick up that nugget of gold and form the lesson that the person is throwing at me.” Tom Bilyeu [21:16]

“The hardest part about change is not making the same choices you did the day before, period. And the moment you decide to make a different choice, get ready because it’s going to feel uncomfortable.” Dr. Joe Dispenza [25:48]

“Pain is a good thing physically because that is your self preservation mechanism. But suffering is something that you do in your mind.” Sadhguru [27:56]

“Because you’re more likely to believe something negative, don’t worry about what’s true. Worry about what empowers you.” [42:08]

“Life is actually embracing polarities. It’s actually about doing a dance, and knowing which way to go at the right time.”  [43:29]

You’re living in a society that has normalized everything that should be far from normal. From the time you open your eyes, your brain is kicking in and most likely living in overdrive. The unfortunate truth is most likely you’re not even aware of all the ways your brain is under attack. Social media is being consumed at an unhealthy rate in both your personal and business life. Even if you have a generally healthy diet, processed foods and chemicals that damage the brain are still sneaking into your body’s system. Is there any wonder why anxiety, stress, and depression, trauma and PTSD are now considered to be the norm? Dr. Daniel Amen is a psychiatrist, brain scan expert and third time guest. Being trilingual is considered to be rather prestigious. Speaking other languages expands your ability to communicate so greatly it adds to the perceived value people will assign to you. But, when you are fluent in Street, Hustling, Broke Money, and Wall Street it becomes the twist no one ever expected. Wallstreet Trapper comes from a troubled past that includes being homeless at 14 and serving 10 years in prison by the age of 16. What he has learned over the years reaches far beyond knowing how to trade stocks and build wealth. His super power is speaking Wall Street in a language that correlates to the same losing game he played on the streets that ended with being shot, in jail or in prison for nearly everyone he knew. His wisdom and willingness to share and make an impact is affecting future generations and bringing Wall Street to the hood, proving that human potential is truly nearly limitless when you put knowledge to use.

36:36 | Bringing Wall Street to the Streets

40:44 | Key To Wealth Is Ownership

46:21 | Power of Knowledge Applied

51:43 | If Investing Isn’t Possible

QUOTES:

“Wealthy people do three things. They stop trading time for money. They make the money work for them. And they give as much value to people as they can.” [11:45]

“The reason why people think wealthy people are people with money or sinister, is because that's what you kind of taught in the hood.” [17:09]

“Being at the bottom teaches you to envy people at the top.” [17:53]

“Generational poverty is not about money. It's about mindset.” Tom Bilyeu [18:32]

“People can not want you to succeed all they want, but if you out invest them, they can't stop you.” Tom Bilyeu [19:31]

“One of the things that happens often in the culture of black people is survival mode, you never get a chance to play offense. You're always on defense, one, because of mindset” [22:27]

“A good business is just like a good hustler. A good business has great product. They have great clientele. A great hustler has a great product, he has consistent clientele.” [25:35]

“Once you start understanding the fundamentals, you give yourself power, because you now understand, like you said, you see how the machine works,” [30:22]

“Everybody around me had the same problem. No one represented the solution. So if I don't change something, I'm only going to end up like everybody else.” [32:23]

“I got knowledge, I got information, but I still fell victim to the same shit that everybody around me knew. So therefore, the knowledge that I had wasn't powerful because it wasn't applied.” [34:32]

“It's hard for people to make sacrifice, because you got to now go against and do without some of the things that gives you that momentary gratification.” [37:11]

“The key to building wealth is not how much you can work. You can't work your way to wealth, you got to invest your way there, and all wealthy people, black, white, Asian, Chinese, they own a whole bunch of shit.” [42:31]

“So if I can break down things into struggle language now I'm making the game winnable for everybody. And that's the goal, to make the game winnable for everybody who's bold enough to step into the batting cage.” [50:37]

“Building wealth becomes a revolutionary act because now you start saying I'm going to go against what I was taught.” [52:25]

“The word possible is so powerful. Possible changes the game. Instead of it being impossible, we now say I am possible” [53:09]

“If learning is the catalyst to everybody who's wealthy and successful, I can never be sufficient with what I know.” [54:24]

What are some of the things you were naturally good at when you were growing up? What captured your attention and made you dream and get excited when you were younger and had no cares or limitations on what was possible or not? Are those things still captivating you now or have you lost sight of them? When you consider what you are now passionate about and excited to accomplish, is there a relation between then and now?

This conversation with Ben Greenfield dives into the notion of being pulled toward natural talent and abilities from childhood and Ben’s inclination to allow those things to clue you in on a purpose worth pursuing. Tom shares the reason he’s leaned into the notion of being able to develop skills even in the absence of natural talent. The ideas Ben and Tom explore take you from childhood to reimaging what heaven and the afterlife could possibly be and everything in between.

“So just being prepared, just being talented is not enough. Just being able to focus and be strategically correct is not enough. I have to have the spirituality to say today is a great day to be in a battle.” [9:04]

“I was accepting death in order to be comfortable in hell.” [9:28]

“I noticed my worst enemy at this point was my own mind, playing tricks on me. It tells me I don't have enough, tells me I was tired, tells me that I’m [gonna lose]. So my mind was completely against my purpose.” [14:24]

“I cannot be just a jiu jitsu teacher, I had to be a psychologist. Because I have to approach a guy who stands insecure in a different way, than approach a guy who's just lazy and completely off.” [36:08]

“The real learning of your breathing system is to learn how to maximize your hyperventilation, to cope with the activities you plan to do.” [39:17]

“If you try to hide the emotions from yourself, and try to show everybody you're okay, you're just making a patch which is not working. So I have to feel weak and completely vulnerable.” [41:29]

“Today my day is based on what I can do best to make my best day today.” [44:41]

“What was my biggest lost becomes my biggest sign of how I should do to have a happy life” [45:54]

“Nobody could make me what I am if I was not focused and passionate about it.” [47:42]

“I was seeking for things that were giving me chills and emotions and I love to play with nature, because nature is unbreakable, nature is stronger.” [52:22]

When it comes to being healthy and improving your health, the overwhelm of information and advice can literally melt your brain. Whether you follow a keto diet, paleo, vegan, or carnivore, the goal for everyone is pretty similar. Get healthy and optimize productivity and energy. Dr. Dominic D’Agostino is back for round two and breaking down everything you need to know about why your biomarkers matter. Dr. D’Agostino reveals the truth behind whether or not carnivore or plant based diets are best for you, how to optimize your biomarkers with fasting, and what you need to know about what role exogenous ketones can play in your optimal health regimen. You’ll want to pay close attention to understand why Covid can potentially become an ongoing problem for young healthy adults and how inflammation is impacting everything.

7:01 | Inflammation Biomarkers

12:01 | Why Fasting Boosts Immune System

38:44 | Healthy People Post Covid Problems

41:28 | Optimize Metabolic Health Now

47:32 | Simplifying Diet, Carbs, Ketones

51:49 | 72 Hour Fasting Benefits

QUOTES:

“Having optimal metabolic health in terms of low insulin, low glycemic variability, low glucose overall, and optimizing your cardio metabolic biomarkers is the way to combat this disease.” [3:15]

“In the context of many pathogens, whether it be viral, whether it be bacterial, or if you are dealing with an inflammatory issue, fasting, and a ketogenic diet, which mimics many aspects of fasting can be very beneficial.” [10:42]

“We are omnivores, right. So we are basically hardwired and evolved to eat to be extremely adaptable in what we are eating.” [42:52]

“If you're on a very limited amount of calories, and you want to get as much nutrition as possible, with the least amount of calories, a carnivore diet is the perfect approach.” [45:18]

“What may even be more important than having a diversity of fiber is actually having fermented foods. [They] contribute to the population, can reverse gut dysbiosis and increase the diversity of the gut microbiome” [47:06]

“You can thrive off a carbohydrate based diet but your glycemic variability will correlate to food cravings. So, if you want to go throughout your day and have optimal productivity and feel optimal energy, I found [...] that a low carb approach is the way to go. ” [48:27]

“There are benefits to being in a hyper ketone anemic state, so the ketones then act as an alternative energy source, anti-inflammatory molecule and a hormone which has many beneficial effects.” [49:47]

48:35 | Power In Being Needed

1:01:28 | Own Your Triggers & Insecurities

QUOTES:

“The problem with emotions, they make things seem self evidently correct.” Tom Bilyeu [6:40]

“If someone who loves you, and that you love are going that head to head, you don't perceive the situation the same. Therefore, the entire argument should stop instantly, and you should simply say, where's the misperception?” Tom Bilyeu [10:26]

“If you want someone to be there when you're weak, you have to be honest about where you're weak.” Lisa Bilyeu [18:02]

“So the goal was for me to change my life to break out of the mundane.” Lisa Bilyeu [19:35]

“I had to be very aware, and really respectful to the fact that my change is going to impact you.” Lisa Bilyeu [24:16]

“We had the goal, we had the strategy, and in that strategy, I got lost, I lost myself.” Lisa Bilyeu [31:30]

“So as you're going through that transition, the thing for me to fall back on was, I'm in this forever. So now I'm only looking for ways to make it work. I'm not looking for the exit ramp.” Tom Bilyeu [39:02]

“I want you to become whoever you want to become in order to be proud, and I want you to feel that you've become as powerful as you want to become.” Tom Bilyeu [40:31]

“As your business partner, I owe it to you to not be weak, and I owe it to you to stand my ground if I believe in something and you owe it to me to stand your ground.” Lisa Bilyeu [42:23]

“I would never be able to stay with a wife who didn't know how to make me feel powerful… it feels so good… If you're with a man that doesn't know how to make you feel beautiful, you're missing a trick.” Tom Bilyeu [45:23]

“Understand the difference between need and want. Because failing to understand that you have to own yourself, you have to own your own emotions, you have to take control of your life” Tom Bilyeu [46:22]

“On occasions to really be able to turn to them and know they've got your back that when you fucking fall on the floor, they are there to reach out a hand and fucking pull you back up.” Lisa Bilyeu [47:33]

“Do I know that he loves me? And if the answer is yes, then I come back to this conversation from that perspective. If the answer's no, I have a much bigger problem.” Tom Bilyeu [55:04]

“People confuse feeling something for having thought through it, or for knowing that something is true.” Tom Bilyeu [58:30]

“Talking about triggers and our own insecurities and our own things. It is 1,000% on me to work through my own triggers my own insecurities.” Lisa Bilyeu [1:01:29]

“It's really freaking hard though, to say in that moment, ‘hey, I'm being triggered,’ and I know that this trigger doesn't serve me but you're still feeling the emotion” Lisa Bilyeu [1:03:25]

There are so many technological advances with AI, space travel, NFTs, and a rapidly changing culture with social media, it’s near impossible to just turn ‘off’. Let’s admit it, FOMO is real and it keeps a lot of people connected when they’re not even sure why they’re connected. How long has it been since you’ve sat with yourself in total silence or allowed yourself to just be bored out of your mind? Author and journalist, Michael Easter, joins me today to discuss his journey and share the lessons and insights he’s gained from spending a month in the Arctic surviving. Hunting his own food, carrying heavy loads, and sitting with absolute boredom are just part of his story. There is something very freeing about being able to shake things up and break your routines and habits to improve the quality of your life in unconventional ways. “By never putting yourself in a position where you are uncomfortable, whether that is physically or mentally or with, what you think to be true? You're not gonna, you're not gonna learn anything about yourself.” [7:41]

“As humans face fewer and fewer problems in our lives, we don't actually experience fewer problems. We just redefine what a problem is.” [22:50]

“If we never put ourselves in the position of true challenge, then we don't really learn something about ourselves” [40:26]

“The idea of trying to do new things, learn new things that totally shake up a routine. It's interesting, because now all of a sudden, I can't predict the future, and I've got to learn some new stuff, and this is forcing you into presence and focus,” [45:18]

“When you're bored, your brain actually goes inward, starts to sort of ruminate it, you sort of have these different thoughts that are more inward focus” [50:21]

“We don't realize how freaking amazing daily life is. It is unbelievable all this shit that we take for granted in our life every single day. We become unsatisfied with it, we look for the problems.” [1:50:36]

“If you look for the things that are joyful, and good and wonderful, then you're gonna see that and that frame of reference will color how you approach change.” [1:53:36]

Youth has a way of making you feel near invincible. Your body handles long nights, limited sleep, and poor diets much easier. The problem is those choices have a cumulative effect. What you eat, how often you eat also impacts the health of your brain. There is a Chinese proverb that says, “the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, and the second best time is now.” It is easy to disregard neurodegenerative diseases as something for older people, but understanding how leaky brain and neurodegeneration begins to happen is better learned now, than waiting till later if you plan to age gracefully. Dr. Jay Lombard may be incognito but his depth of knowledge and expertise in degenerative neurological diseases is astonishing. He breaks down what misfolded proteins are, the relation of infection and immune system processes to neurodegenerative disease and reveals simple ways you can support your immune system on a cellular level. Get ready to break out the ice baths and discover a new reason to relax in the sauna.

Do you believe that starting a business with nothing is possible? The American Dream is typically defined as the idea that the opportunity of achieving your highest aspirations is possible for anyone willing to put in the work. Jay Samit, laid out his case and experiment for this very idea in his latest book, Future Proofing You. Glenn Stearns, producer and star of the Discovery show, Undercover Billionaire, put himself to the test with $100, no contacts, no help, and just 90 days to build a million dollar business because he deeply believes the American Dream is still alive and possible. Although the playing field is not equal for everyone in every opportunity, it is still possible. Glenn’s story is shocking and relatable for many because his honesty and vulnerability shows that attitude and belief are still king in how you decide to live your life and make moves.

Regardless of where you live, societies are feeling the threat against certain freedoms and are fighting back. Humans innately don’t want to be oppressed or censored by larger, more powerful and dominant groups. But exactly how do you define your freedom? Is your freedom tied to your “rights'' or is your freedom independent of that? Sebastian Junger, best selling author, Afghanistan war correspondent and more has authored a new book, Freedom, that will leave you shocked, perplexed and challenged in many ways. In this conversation, he and Tom take a deep dive into freedom, what it means for different societies, how smaller groups are able to give larger groups and armies hell, and are willing to risk their lives for their freedom. Sebastian also shares his 400 mile experience walking through America with a group of friends and reflects on different feelings of freedom. His more recent near death experience will shock you and give you yet another perspective of freedom worth fighting for

QUOTES:

“it means that you are not unfairly controlled by a greater power. That you’re self defining, within the limits, of course of the laws that bind all of us.” [1:25]

“That's the eternal human sort of balancing act is to defend themselves but then not wind up being oppressed by their own leaders.” [4:43]

“It's very clear that armed aggression is very adaptive, that it helps the aggressive group survive and thrive.” [8:49]

“The idea of freedom really only refers to the people within your own community.” [9:25]

“Going into a foreign country to defend oneself, puts the military in the whole society on more precarious moral grounds.” [12:29]

“first thing you need to do in order to feel safe is to be part of a group that has a kind of common agreement to defend itself against any threat” [16:17]

“The really interesting thing about humans is that a smaller fighter, or a smaller group, is capable of defeating a larger fighter or a larger group that size and strength are not the ultimate predictor of victory in combat.” [23:21]

“The small guy in the ring does not have to win, they just have to keep not losing long enough for this for the larger entity to run out of resources.” [26:12]

“We have an instinct for autonomy, we also have an instinct for, you know, not being uncomfortable and being safe and and having our ease” [49:30]

“In an affluent society, individuals need others less to survive. And so they're able to live more and more individualistic lives that are more focused on their own experience, and less focused on the experience of others.” [54:20]

“As wealth goes up in a society, broadly, the rates of depression and suicide tend to go up and in poorer societies despite the stresses of poverty, rates of depression and suicide tend to go down.” [54:48]

“Where evolution comes from, is testing new things, and evolving physically and psychologically to adapt to them.” [1:07:42]

“Leadership has to be completely selfless, like you need leaders who will die for you. Anything less than that is not a leader. They're an opportunist.” [1:12:59]

“The meaning that we give to life and the meaning that we give to death. It doesn't say anything really about the nature of existence, it says something about how we, as humans, create a place for ourselves in the world on this crazy planet we live on.” [1:28:00]

“Some feelings that you get in touch with, prevent you from doing something that needs to be done. Like that emotional denial is absolutely crucial when you're doing something that is scary or horrifying.” [1:34:04]
