Your reality is not what you think it is. Everyday, you move through and see the experiences of life with a filter. This filter? Its your own perspective. Now is the time for you to recognize and become self-aware of this perspective, rid yourself of it, and actually begin to change your life for good. On this episode of Impact Theory, Tom Bilyeu is joined by New York Times Bestselling Author, speaker, and urban philosopher Gary Bishop to discuss such matters and more as they explore how to finally wake up to the reality youve fabricated for yourself, break the chains of your perspective which can hold you back, and start to walk on a path towards the person, life, and reality you want to live. They discuss how we each create our own reality from our experiences, how to become self-aware so that you can recognize patterns in your life, why we create false narratives for ourselves, how to become reborn and renewed into a new person, why you shouldnt require others to change for you, and how to deal with the challenging fundamentals of life such as success, grief, and love.

Your perspective is in everything you hear, everything you see, everything you say, everything you experience, every feeling, every emotion, you know, all of it. Thats your perspective and its hard to see it because youre in it. So you cant really witness it. [7:28]

I think what youre witnessing is this kind of bankruptcy of your persona. Like, whove youve come to know yourself as no longer works, right? And its the same shit and no matter how hard you shake that tree, youre only ever getting one apple. [27:28]

“…and part of being a loving human being is, whats also on the table, is something called disappointment. [48:13]

The truths we once all agreed upon and held dearly may soon be lost to power-hungry, sometimes forceful, and always unrelenting culture war movements. Like a calm before the storm, our society may be on the brink of irreversible and incomprehensible consequences. All objective truth may soon be removed from society and be replaced with a post-modernist approach where truth simply cannot exist. Still, what is the truth? What is the undeniable evolutionary science behind men and women in todays society? On this episode of Conversations with Tom, Tom is joined by Evolutionary Biologist Heather Heying to discuss such matters and more as they explore todays society and the undeniable biological differences between men and women, how each sex has a unique and powerful role in societies, and why in todays modern age, culture wars has eroded trust in objective truth. They discuss todays social movements and the harmful consequences of letting them go too far, the differences between men and women in society, how hunter-gatherer societies may be key to understanding our roles, the origin of men and women being divided in society by role and purpose, the dangers we face if we continue to deny our differences, why the culture war movements are power hungry, how to have a successful workplace environment and team, and the risks we face as a society if we overprotect our children and refuse to let them take risks and make their own decisions.

QUOTES:

“…is it true that an entirely male power structure has a tendency to go off the rails in a particular way in which were well familiar from like all of history? Yeah, of course, right? Would an all-female power structure go off the rails in a particular way that were less familiar with from history? A hundred-percent. I dont want to see that anymore than I want to see, you know, another World War II…” [15:30]

“…what you said earlier is just exactly right and Ive never heard anyone say it before which is that when you have been on all-male teams, its easier, and when you have been on mixed-sex teams, its more productive and I just, you know, so hope that that anecdote holds across everything. Its what Im sort of banking on…” [57:23]

The thing is, yes we get less flexible as we age, for sure. Our brains get less plastic, we get more, you know, canalized into our particular ways of thinking but continuing to expose ourselves to more and more experiences that are different from anything we imagined is how to keep that flexibility…” [1:29:20]

Aging. It’s something most, if not all, of us accept as just a normal part of life. Yet, what if we’ve been approaching ‘aging’ wrong this entire time? What if there was a way to not only slow down our aging process but put an end to aging altogether? On this episode of Health Theory, Tom Bilyeu is joined by anti-aging, regenerative, and age-reversal medical expert Dr. Alex Paziotopoulos to discuss such matters and more as they explore how you can put a halt to your body’s aging process and begin turning back your biological clock for good. They discuss the modern science behind age reversing, the importance of sleep on your brain, the ideal lifestyle you should be aiming for, why a meat-based diet may be aging you, why your world is ‘too sterile,’ the differences between good and bed stress, the supplements you can take to prevent aging, and the practical steps you can take today to begin slowing down how you age.

QUOTES:

“We want to go beyond what nature created for us and the environment. We want to optimize. The average person isn’t even close to their genetic potential. So, we want to go beyond your genetic potential.” [13:26]

“…you’re not a human being, you’re a conglomerate of all of these organisms together. So you have, you know, hundreds of millions of different species just living in you. And so when we look at hunter-gatherer populations and what their microbiome looks like versus us, we’re completely sterile compared to them.” [21:24]

“There’s not a system of the body that we’re not looking at and that we’re not trying to optimize because it all works together. You can’t just say, “I’ll optimize your heart.” There’s no way, it’s impossible, right? Everything’s connected. And so, we have to look at all the systems and see where we’re at.” [41:09]

The experiences you carry with you from your past greatly affect how you respond in the future. We are constantly feeding our brain data based on the world and circumstances we live in. Based on these experiences, our brain is able to formulate a ‘best guess’ and, thus, we form our responses. But are we really in control of our responses? Does our brain truly know anything or is everything our brain concludes merely just a ‘best guess’ and nothing more? On this episode of Conversations with Tom, Tom joins neuroscientist, psychologist, and author Dr. Lisa Feldman Barrett to discuss such matters and more as they explore how the human brain develops it’s responses to the world and why it’s important for us to not only understand it for our own sake, but for the benefit of others as well. They discuss the difference between emotion and affect, how our brains develop during childhood, how culture is built into our brains, how concepts are formed and used within our brains, what our body budgets are, and why we should be always approach each other with empathy and compassion first.

The quality of our health isn’t defined by one singular meal, experience, or moment but rather by a collection of our habits over the long term. What we put into our bodies and the environment we build around ourselves can have a great affect on our health over a long period of time. How can we build a healthy environment for ourselves that includes healthy foods, habits, and a safe and healthy home? On this episode of Health Theory, holistic solution-oriented specialist and environmental health expert Dr. Christian Gonzalez joins Tom Bilyeu to sit down and discuss such matters and mores as they discuss the link between our environment and illness, disease, and cancer. They discuss the impact of GMOs on our health, which foods to avoid, which foods to consume more of, how our environments affect our health, the affect of BPA on the body, ways to detox our bodies and rid ourselves of pesticides and heavy metals, how cancer forms in the body and ways to prevent it, and how our diet is directly linked to cancer growth.

Identity is all around you. Whether you’re consuming social media, reading a book, streaming a new series online, or having a conversation with a friend or family member, you are receiving signals from the world that shape your self-identity. From the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed, your self-identity is switched on and telling you the parameters of which you need to live in. What if we can escape this box we’ve built around us? What does true freedom from excuses look like? On this episode of Impact Theory, world-renowned speaker, author, and venture capitalist Vusi Thembakwayo joins Tom Bilyeu to discuss such matters and more as they explore the controversial ideas of self-identity, freedom of the mind, and why you have no excuse to begin taking action today. They discuss how self-identity can limit our potential, why being free doesn’t mean living in freedom, why you have to have a willingness to fail, how to be your own savior, and the inspiration of Nelson Mandela.
